The first trailer for Jon Favreau’s Chef has been released. Favreau stars with an impressive cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson.

Jon Favreau’s career undoubtedly skyrocketed when he directed Iron Man, his first real blockbuster. After the not as well received Iron Man 2 and Cowboys and Aliens, okay, especially Cowboys and Aliens, Favreau’s fans were hoping he’d return to making smaller films like he did earlier in his career.

With Chef, Favreau has done just that. The film has a significantly smaller budget than his three previous films, and, even more importantly, it has been really well received.

The film debuted at SXSW in March, and of the eight reviews currently collected by Rotten Tomatoes, not only are they all positive, but they are very favorable.

The cast is impressive. Along with writing and directing, Favreau stars as a chef who, after losing his job, decides to open a food truck with his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara), his friend (John Leguizamo), and his son (Emjay Anthony) with the intent of recapturing his artistic promise. The rest of the cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Bobby Cannavale, Dustin Hoffman, Oliver Platt, and Robert Downey, Jr.

Chef is set to open on May 9 to wide release.

Today, the trailer was just released. It’s easy to see in this trailer just how much of a feel good movie this is going to be.
