After the pilot for the Charmed reboot aired on The CW, fans took to Twitter to tell the world exactly what they thought of the new show.

Charmed’s pilot aired last night on October 14 on The CW, and a lot of fans of the original show were holding their breath to see if this reboot was worth their time. As one of those fans myself, I enjoyed this first episode and look forward to seeing where it goes next.

According to TV MoJoe, a few more people tuned into Charmed than watched the Supergirl lead-in.

Many detractors will note that the original Charmed‘s pilot brought in 7.7 million viewers, becoming the highest-rated debut on The WB.

I would argue, however, that the way we view television in 2018 is quite different than the way we viewed television in 1998. Though I highly doubt the reboot will be as popular as the original, I also don’t think you can make direct comparisons in terms of viewership for this very reason.

That being said, the true test is what fans had to say about the show on social media.

I scrolled through hundreds of tweets and realized that the internet was pretty divided over the premiere. Some original fans were surprised they liked the new series, while others were hesitant to gave it a shot and ultimately said it wasn’t for them. There’s also a select group who still aren’t sure about the show but are willing to give it another chance before they decide one way or another.

Those in favor of ‘Charmed’

Those unsure about ‘Charmed’

Those against ‘Charmed’

What did you think of the ‘Charmed’ reboot pilot episode?

The reviews seem fairly mixed. Some people went in determined to hate it and found exactly what they were looking for, while others who had the same attitude were pleasantly surprised. Then there are those who never watched the original and thought this was a fun show or thought the pilot was just okay.

I do think it’s important to judge the show on more than just the pilot, as pilots are notorious for being pretty rough, regardless of what show you’re watching, but if you’re not feeling it, then you’re not feeling it.

I do hope original fans who don’t like the show won’t go around bashing those who do, however. After all, the series starring Prue, Piper, Phoebe, and Paige isn’t going anywhere. We can all continue to enjoy it whenever we want, thanks to Netflix.
