Charlie Kaufman is one of the most talented screenwriters working today, it will therefore come as little shock that is upcoming directorial effort Frank or Francis is near the top of our most-anticipated list. Now the film, which is about the war between an acclaimed actor (Steve Carrell) and an internet film writer (Jack Black), has climbed a little higher on that list as Oscar-winner Kate Winslet and Oscar-nominee Catherine Keener have joined the cast.

Here’s a synopsis via Slashfilm:

Carell plays Frank Arder, a writer/director who plays every single role in his latest film, You, which is nominated for 29 Oscars. Jack Black is Francis, a prolific internet commenter/troll who, offline, is the stereotypical misfit geek living with his parents. The two men feature in parallel but related plotlines that eventually converge.

Nicolas Cage is Alan Modell, an actor/comedian with a dimming career, who hosts the Oscars. And Kevin Kline is Richard Waller, who with his brother Jonathan creates a mechanical head designed to create the perfect film script. Kline, by the way, also plays the head.

According to Vulture, both Winslet and Keener have been cast, although there was no mention of their character roles.
