Get ready to see a whole lot more of Charlie Heaton on the big screen! It’s looking like the Stranger Things star could be the next actor to join the cast of Fox’s New Mutants.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Heaton is currently in talks to join the upcoming X-Men title from Fox, helmed by The Fault in Our Stars director Josh Boone.

Currently, the actor is being eyed for the role of Sam Guthrie, a teenager (also known by his alter ego, Cannonball) who possesses the ability to propel himself into the air at whim.

If Heaton boards the project, there’s no denying he’ll be in great company. As previously reported, Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch), and Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, have already signed on to play Magik and Wolfsbane, respectively. Additionally, Rosario Dawson is rumored to be joining the project as Cecilia Reyes, a doctor with the ability to cast a protective bio-field around herself.

Heaton blew us all away with his portrayal of teenage outsider Jonathan Byers on Netflix’s Stranger Things, so we’re sure that he’d do a spectacular bringing one of the lesser known X-Men to life.

Slated to debut on April 13, 2018, Fox’s New Mutants is set to tell the story of a team of mutant heroes comprised of the first graduates of Charles Xavier’s school.
