Celebs Clothing ‘Captain America’ varsity jacket review

For those of you that know me, and know my style, I love to play with my wardrobe and pair everything from jeans to floral skirts with more geeky apparel. Which is why this Captain America themed varsity jacket appeals so much to my aesthetic. Besides, there’s just something undeniably cool about the varsity jacket in general — though I can’t say I’ve ever been so tempted to buy one before now. The design is understated enough that I’ve been able to wear it with a significant number of outfits I already loved, but have been able to elevate to a whole new geek-pride level. While Celebs Clothing’s replica jackets are, undoubtedly, both impressive and stunning, the more casual look of this varsity style jacket is one that I prefer.

The jacket itself is incredibly comfortable to wear throughout the day, and the fabric feels soft yet durable — which is made of an 80% Cotton/20% Polyester blend. With the high cotton content (particularly in the bulk of the jacket, as the poly-blend is in the sleeves only) I’d recommend a cold wash, and either tumble dry on a low heat or allow the jacket to hang dry. This should prevent the jacket from shrinking. I have no concerns over the quality of the jacket on the whole, however, and it’s one that I imagine will get significant wear out of and will last a long time. As for the stitching, it was neat and didn’t appear loose in any part of the jacket, attesting to the attention to detail that Celebs Clothing have given to the design. Though they appear to be more well-known for their leather work, their skill and quality certainly don’t end there.

I received the jacket in a unisex small — and though Celebs Clothing offer sizing in both women’s and men’s cuts, that wasn’t the case for this product — and it fits me perfectly. It’s still loose enough that I could comfortably wear a sweatshirt underneath, but not so much that I’m swimming in fabric (trust me, for being as small as I am, this can be a real issue). Thus, the jackets run true to size, per their guidelines on the website. A word of warning, however — the jacket does have a fleece lining, which could cause it to run slightly hot during the summer, which isn’t as much of an issue for me with U.K. weather.

Another nice touch? The jacket came inside a fabric garment bag, which further protected the item during shipping. This wasn’t necessary, as the outer bag the item was shipped in made it through the postal service unscathed, but showed the company was willing to go one step further to ensure that the item made it to me in as pristine a condition as possible.

If Captain America isn’t your style, Celebs Clothing have other variations in the same jacket, from Deadpool, to Batman, to Superman. So whichever side of the fence you fall on — DC or Marvel — you’re likely to find at least one design to suit your geek needs.
