The beloved claymation series Celebrity Deathmatch is returning with new episodes on MTV 2.

According to THR, who broke the news, “the new version will again feature animated no-holds-barred fantasy fights between infamous figures from entertainment and pop culture and will be reimagined for a social media world and hourly Twitter wars.”

It’s not clear how the show will play into social media, but presumably they’ll be releasing clips online that MTV hopes will go viral. The “Twitter wars” sound like an interesting element that’ll help bring attention to the popular series — perhaps fans will have to vote for who they think will win in any given fight.

Celebrity Deathmatch creator Eric Fogel will be returning for the revival, which is good news for those who are hoping it’ll capture the same crazy antics that the original series did in the late ’90s and early ’00s. A premiere date hasn’t been set.

Watch this clip from the first season in which Mariah Carey and Jim Carrey duke it out:

The show was revived in 2006 but was again canceled in 2007. Perhaps this time they’ll stick around for longer — the show could be a huge hit if they release these ridiculous fights online. To date, the series has had 93 episodes.

Who do you want to see fight in the ‘Celebrity Deathmatch’ revival?

We’re hoping for people like Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and Zayn Malik.
