100 episodes is a milestone most TV shows only dream of reaching, but for The Vampire Diaries, that dream becomes reality when the 100th episode, “500 Years of Solitude” airs this week. In celebration, we have chosen 100 of our favorite quotes, one from each episode.

Damon, Katherine, Stefan, Elena, Alaric, Caroline, and Jeremy are just a few of the characters represented in the first installment of our fun look back at the past 100 episodes of The Vampire Diaries. Only choosing one quote per episode was insanely difficult (especially because of how many zingers Damon had in the first season), but we took on the job to remind us all just how far this show has come, and how much farther it still has to go.

Our season 1 selections remind us of Caroline’s snark, Damon’s wit, Alaric’s altogether beloved presence, and the Elena parent debacle that made up much of the craziness in The Vampire Diaries season 1.
