Teen Lit Day was created to celebrate young adult literature and spread the word about amazing books. Along with Rock the Drop, the Teen Reads website launches its annual top ten list nominees, and Children’s Choice book awards begin voting.

Rock the Drop was started by Readergirlz.com back in 2008 as an initiative to get more books in the hands of young people. Now Rock the Drop is a yearly event with authors and readers spreading the book love.

The Rock the Drop rules are simple: Print out the handy bookplate (designed by Lindsay Frantz; full-sized version here) or write your own note; attach to the books you hope to give away so as to avoid any confusion; and leave the books in whatever locations you desire for other readers to find. Make sure you post or tweet about where you’ve left your book so others can find it.

Also launching today is the YALSA’s annual top ten website. Each year the YALSA releases the nominees for their Top Teen list. This year the list contains a nix of well known authors and debuts, including the likes of Veronica Roth, Maggie Stiefvater, and Rachel Hartman.

The Children’s Choice Book Awards also open voting today. They have awards for author of the year, book of the year and illustrator of the year. The nominees include Veronica Roth, John Green, Cassie Clare, and Rick Riordan. Those are going to be some very tight races.
