The Chicago actress will join Helen Mirren and Bruce Willis in a sequel to the 2010 action film.
According to Deadline, the Welsh actress will join the team of retired CIA operatives who use their old school methods to take out a slew of European enemies. GI Joe: Retaliation’s Byung-Hun Lee will also star.
If she does prove to be a member of the team, Zeta-Jones will be the youngest member of the ensemble cast at 41.
The movie, written by returning screenwriters Erich and Jon Hoeber will be directed by Dean Parisot (The Good Wife) and distributed by Summit Entertainment.
Red 2 is scheduled for release on August 2, 2013.
