Jungle Book: Origins, Warner Bros.’ adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, has cast six new actors including Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett.

Yesterday WB announced that Benedict Cumberbatch will be voicing the tiger named Shere Khan in Jungle Book: Origins. Now he’ll have a couple of Oscar winners to keep him company as Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett join the main cast.

THR reports that Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Naomie Harris, Tom Hollander, Eddie Marsan and Peter Mullan are all joining the film as the animal characters in Warner Bros.’ adaptation.

Rohan Chand, the young actor who played the brilliant co-star of Jason Bateman in last year’s Bad Words, is set to play the human boy role Mowgli.

The film’s director, Andy Serkis, will play Baloo the bear in the film adaptation. Serkis served as second unit director on The Hobbit trilogy, but Jungle Book: Origins will be his directorial debut.

Actor Christian Bale will voice Bagheera, the film’s panther, who helps Baloo save Mowgli from the killer tiger Shere Khan who Benedict Cumberbatch is voicing.

Academy Award winning actress Cate Blanchett will voice Kaa, a python who is another friend of Mowgli’s, while Tom Hollander will play the jackal named Tabaqui. Peter Mullan is set to play the wolf pack leader that raises the young boy.

Naomie Harris is the female wolf Nisha and actor Eddie Marsan will play another wolf Vihaan.

Jungle Book: Origins is set to be released on October 21, 2016, but it’s just one of the two big screen versions of the classic tale in the works.

Disney has The Jungle Book coming October 9, 2015 with Iron Man director Jon Favreau helming the project.
