Fall is fast approaching, and so are the fall premieres! We’re all about catching up and watching new shows here at Hypable, so we wanted to give you a list of shows and movies that you should watch before their relevant counterparts premiere or start (again) this fall.

With brand new series, seasons, and story arcs coming this fall, we had to make sure as many people are in the know as possible! While we know that the creators and show runners of each of these projects will try to make them as easy to understand as possible without relying on previous projects, we also know that it’s so much easier understanding what’s going on once you have more background information.

If you want to be fully informed this fall then take the last month of summer to really invest in the backstory of the newest projects this fall:

Watch: ‘The Avengers’

Reason: ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

If you didn’t already know, the agency that brought together the Avengers last summer is now brining Coulson back from the dead and giving him his own show! S.H.I.E.L.D. will debut this fall which gives you plenty of time to watch The Avengers so you know what’s going on.

If you want even more information take a look at our list of 6 things you need to know before watching The Avengers, which also delves into what S.H.I.E.L.D is.

Watch: ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Reason: ‘The Originals’

It’s spinoff season and now the CW is starting off with a whole new show based off some of our favorite Vampire Diaries characters. If you really want to get into the mythology of who these creatures are then catching up on The Vampire Diaries is absolutely the best way to do so.

The Original vampires don’t make an appearance until the second season, though, so feel free to skip the first if you want to get directly into what The Originals will be about. Although, as your Vampire Hype hosts will tell you, the whole series is well worth the watch!

Watch: ‘Once Upon A Time’

Reason: ‘Once Upon A Time in Wonderland’

Like our previous suggestion, it’s spinoff season! Based off the ABC series Once Upon A Time, Once Upon A Time in Wonderland will focus on just one character and one land instead of all the fairytales: Alice!

If you want to understand exactly how this world works and just how amazing it is that it’s getting it’s own spinoff, make sure to catch up on the past two seasons of Once Upon A Time.

Watch: ‘Glee’

Reason: Cory Montieth

With his recent passing, Glee show runners are working hard on appropriately finishing up Finn’s storyline for fans. If you haven’t caught up yet, now is the perfect time to not only honor Montieth in your own way but also be sure you’re up to date when they do the tribute episode this fall.

Watch: ‘Doctor Who’

Reason: The 50th Anniversary

What better way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who than with marathoning all seven series before November?!

If you aren’t a part of the Doctor Who fandom then now is the perfect time to start. Despite some people suggesting you can simply start with Matt Smith on series five, we highly suggest starting at the beginning with the 9th Doctor and Rose because, well, reasons.

With a new Doctor now taking the reigns, you’ll be able to experience all of the amazingness of Doctor Who before saying goodbye to Matt Smith, and you won’t regret a minute of it!

Will you watch any of these this summer?
