Speaking to the media at the Jameson Empire Awards in London last night, actor Sam Claflin (who plays Finnick) revealed he’s seen a Catching Fire trailer.

We mere fans have yet to see any sort of trailer for the second film in the four-part Hunger Games series, so he must be talking about one that is on the horizon.

Claflin made the comments when he was asked if he’d seen the completed film or any footage from it. “I have not seen it, I’ve seen a trailer may- maybe, maybe! (Laughter) Uh, maybe I shouldn’t have said that but yeah. But I’m very, very proud of this. It’s one of the things I’m really excited to share with the world! It’s a fantastic feat, I think. Francis Lawrence is truly a wonderful director. So to have his touch on this franchise is a great, is a great thing.”

The actor also spoke about the character of Finnick and described him as “a very complex character. From people who’ve read the books, they’ll know that he has his ups and his downs. He’s very much in love with Annie Cresta, this girl who goes crazy from his own district. He gets sort of put into the games to protect and preserve Katniss and her reputation. That’s pretty much my role, I’m a good guy”

Studios tend to time movie trailer releases with big film openings that appeal to the same audience. We’re hoping that the first trailer for Catching Fire is much better than The Hunger Games teaser trailer which was just Katniss running through the woods.

We’ll keep a close eye out for any hints of a forthcoming Catching Fire trailer. Thanks to Mockingjay for the quotes above.
