Excuse us while we take a moment to do some speculating based on one fact and one memory.

On the most recent episode of our new, all-fandom podcast Hype, an interesting question was raised by Sonya: Could the first Hunger Games: Catching Fire trailer arrive with the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 14?

Sonya’s guess is an educated one. Last week Catching Fire star Sam Claflin said he’s seen a trailer, which would indicate one is ready for launch. We also remembered that The Hunger Games teaser trailer debuted at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2011 – six months away from the release of the film itself.

A release on Sunday, April 14 would put it just over seven months away from Catching Fire’s theatrical opening. The MTV Movie Awards has been a hot spot for first looks at highly-anticipated films, so it wouldn’t surprise us to see The Hunger Games sequel’s trailer debut at the high profile event.

Remember: This is complete speculation on our part, but worth bringing up given the first film’s trailer saw a release at an MTV awards event.

Though Catching Fire is still a ways away, early anticipation has run rampant thanks in part to beautiful posters released featuring the lead characters.
