The Hunger Games: Catching Fire crews hit “dirty Jersey,” as us locals call it in a loving tone, to film a few shots just last week, reports confirm.

The cast and crew were filming outside of Atlanta, Georgia during the summer and fall and then moved to Hawaii to film the arena scenes during November and December. Now, a report from NorthJersey.com indicates that the production had also been in New Jersey just last week:

The film crews in Ringwood last week were, in fact, there shooting “The Hunger Games” sequel, “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” — and Katniss herself was in town.

“They filmed scenes for the beginning of the movie in Ramapo State Forest,” said Steven Gorelick, executive director of the New Jersey Motion Picture & Television Commission, who was on set during Friday’s filming.

The movie’s stars Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth were there, according to Gorelick.

“The weather worked perfectly for them,” said Gorelick. “The water froze and there was a little snow and they got some very good footage.”

Lawrence was at the 2013 SAG Awards just this past Sunday, so the filming couldn’t have lasted for more than a few days. These were likely a few quick pick-ups they weren’t able to grab in Atlanta. Director Francis Lawrence may’ve wanted some natural snow?

Jennifer said recently that additional filming will happen in March.
