On the heels of rumors, Lionsgate has formally announced The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’s DVD and Blu-ray release date.

Catching Fire’s DVD, Blu-ray, Digital, and On Demand release is set for March 7, 2014. In addition, the studio confirmed the special features that will be included with the home entertainment set.

Though the rumors were accurate in terms of a feature list, we now know who participates in the Catching Fire commentary feature: Director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobsen. Unfortunately, no cast are involved.

The Blu-ray holds the following features, according to the press release:
· “Surviving the Game: Making Catching Fire” – 9-part feature-length documentary
· Audio Commentary with Director Francis Lawrence and Producer Nina Jacobson
· Deleted Scenes
· Sneak Peek of Divergent

The DVD version has the same features except for the 9-part commentary.

Target’s exclusive Catching Fire DVD/Blu-ray set includes 45-minutes of material not seen in the standard edition.

Meanwhile, the first teaser poster for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 debuted earlier this week and features the iconic bird with its wings spread wide.

Will you purchase ‘Catching Fire’ on DVD or Blu-ray?

… Or are you waiting for The Hunger Games complete box set which will inevitably be released after Mockingjay, Part 2?

Catching Fire was so good that it’s hard to resist waiting for a box set.

The inclusion of a Divergent sneak peek is interesting, because the upcoming dystopian book to film adaptation is coming from Lionsgate’s sister studio Summit. They obviously want to ensure that the story, conceived by author Veronica Roth, has a successful debut in late March.
