So many of our favorite shows are ending in the 2017-2018 season. Catch up on these eight shows now, so you’re ready for the series finales!

A series finale of a TV show is always a special event. Not many series actually get to decide how they end these days, with so many mass and often last minute cancellations, but for the elite few that do, the series finale holds a lot of power and responsibility.

A really good (or really bad) series finale can change the way you look at an entire series. At the very least, it’ll change how you think of your favorite characters moving forward.

There will usually be death, there will often be marriage and pregnancy, there will hopefully be some big twists and reveals, and there will always be nostalgia. At its best, the series finale will leave you equally devastated and satisfied. It’s a nearly impossible goal, but luckily, storytellers keep trying.

When every episode of a certain TV show feels like a huge event, the series finale is bound to be even more of a phenomenon. You can bet that the day after Game of Thrones ends, there won’t be much chatter about literally anything else at your office water cooler (or on the internet, for that matter).

That’s why you need to get on these bandwagons now! If you’ve been hesitant about getting involved in a fandom or jumping into one of these shows, now’s your last chance to get on board before that wagon leaves the station for good. Don’t be the person who misses out. Be the one who knows exactly where they were, who they were with, and what they were thinking at the moment that (insert lead character of any of the following shows here) dies/gets married/is revealed to have been dreaming for six years.

‘Orphan Black’

If you’re not caught up on Orphan Black, stop reading this right now (but bookmark it for later, obviously) and get to work! You don’t have much time for this one, because the series finale is tonight, August 12, at 10 p.m. ET on BBC America.

Ever since Orphan Black debuted, people have been raving about Tatiana Maslany and her portrayal of this show’s central clones. Don’t miss how she wraps up the storylines of her many characters in the Orphan Black series finale. The show’s creator promises that it will be an “extremely emotional” one. Bring your tissues!

‘The Originals’

We now know that The Originals will follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, The Vampire Diaries, and will come to an end in 2018. The vampire spinoff will come back for a short (likely 13-16 episode) fifth season in 2018, and then the story will be done.

This one’s worth the catch-up-binge for anyone who’s ever been a fan of either The Originals or The Vampire Diaries. The show’s creator has promised an “open door policy” for the cast of the latter to appear on the spinoff, and it’s already been confirmed that Candice Accola will appear as Caroline in the final season.

‘Teen Wolf’

Teen Wolf has already begun airing its final 10 episodes, but you still have a couple months to catch up. Season 6B will end sometime in the fall, and it’s already proving to be an amazing season, so there’s no time like the present to jump on this bandwagon.

Like every great final season, Teen Wolf season 6B promises to be full of nostalgia, and they’re bringing basically everyone back for one last hurrah. Did you stop watching because your favorite character left the show? You may be in luck, because it’s pretty likely they’ll be back for the finale.

‘Scandal’

The seventh and final season of Scandal will premiere on October 5, 2017. We can’t think of a better way to end your summer than with a Scandal marathon, can you?

Everyone knows that Shonda Rhimes knows how to keep the drama coming, week after week, but we’ve had surprisingly little experience with how she runs a series finale. However, her emotional Private Practice finale was full of exciting twists and turns, so you can bet that the series finale of Scandal will be even more insane and epic.

‘The Mindy Project’

After all the network drama, Mindy Kaling and her team will luckily have the chance to choose how The Mindy Project concludes. The sixth season, which will be the show’s last, will premiere on Hulu on September 12, 2017. It will be a short season, with only 10 episodes, so you’ll wanna be on board right from the start.

‘New Girl’

New Girl had its own set of cancellation drama to deal with this year, but they too secured a final season, to finish off the storylines of the wonderful characters in the loft. The seventh season will premiere in fall 2017, and we don’t know much more than that! Other than the fact that you need to be a part of it, of course.

‘The Americans’

While many fans complained that the last season of The Americans was slow in comparison to its predecessors, all signs are pointing to an action-packed final season that you won’t want to miss.

This one is another late starter, with a winter 2018 premiere, so you’ve got plenty of time to catch up on this fantastic political drama.

‘Game of Thrones’

Technically, Game of Thrones has two seasons left, but with seasons 7 and 8 having episode counts of 7 and 6, respectively, it’s really more like one giant, drawn out season. Season 7 is currently airing and season 8 will probably premiere sometime between April and July 2018.

Game of Thrones has one of the largest followings of any show on TV, and every episode truly feels like an event. Now that the show has surpassed the books, things are only getting more exciting. Now’s the time to forget about whatever’s been holding you back from catching up on Game of Thrones and get involved in this phenomenon before it’s too late.

Which series finale are you the most excited for?
