Forgot what happened last season on The Mindy Project? Catch up before The Mindy Project season 3 premiere Tuesday, September 16 at 9:30 pm on Fox!

It is easy to remember where we last left Mindy Lahiri and Danny Castellano:

Making out on the ground of the top of the Empire State Building. They had heart-eyes for each other, and it was adorable. But the road leading up to that reunion wasn’t so pretty.

The first half of the season ended with Danny kissing Mindy in the back of the plane, and the second half of the season dealt with the implication of that kiss. Mindy broke up with Cliff and secretly dated Danny for a few episodes. Due to lack of commitment on his part (and maybe a bit of fear on hers), the two likewise called it off. The season 2 finale was a culmination of the other employees at Shulman & Associates persuading the two to get back together. Mission accomplished!

Now that they’re together, Mindy Kaling seems hell-bent on keeping them together. To create drama for the show, instead of breaking them up (again) she prefers to throw complications at them as a couple – Danny’s mother being the most prominent case right now.

Speaking of the other characters around the office…

They have become more independent over the season, as stories typically feel either in the ‘Mindy & Danny’ camp or ‘everyone else.’

Peter might be in his first adult relationship!

Peter, (Adam Pally), as the newest addition to The Mindy Project may have had more character development than Jeremy, who has been around since the pilot. He can seem wholly immature – cracking dirty jokes right and left – but he does also serve as Mindy’s moral compass other times. He provides cut-and-dry clarity to her messy relationships and says basically whatever he is thinking.

Last season, he met Lauren, a genius neurosurgeon, but when he found out she had a kid he almost ran for the hills. As said aforementioned sign of character development, he stuck around. Lauren (played by TMP writer Tracey Wigfield) will be back for season 3, but will she stay with Peter?

Or will Lauren have a ‘thing’ with Jeremy?

Not many details have been revealed, but while we know Lauren will be back for The Mindy Project season 3, we do not know the status of her relationship with Peter. In the season premiere, “We’re a Couple Now, Haters,” she partners with Jeremy to organize a charity function. Perhaps they will become the complicated relationship of the show, while Mindy and Danny are off arguing about who loves each other more.

Meanwhile, Morgan continues to be strange.

Not a huge surprise here, Morgan Tookers’ character has yet to prove his reasoning for sticking around beyond being Mindy’s personal assistant (not his real job). Ike Barinholtz was busy over the summer filming The Nest (starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, among others, due out 2015), so there is a chance The Mindy Project might be Morgan-lite the first few episodes.

What are you looking forward to in ‘The Mindy Project’ season 3?
