The Casual Vacancy’s official Facebook page is giving away a copy of the book by J.K. Rowling.

The copy was presumably signed last night during Rowling’s Q&A, reading, and signing at Lincoln Center in New York City.

To enter, visit this page on Facebook, ‘like’ The Casual Vacancy, and share the status. Good luck to all who enter!

UPDATE: We’ve discovered that the above page is not the official Casual Vacancy page. We can not verify that this contest is absolutely legitimate, but it can’t hurt to enter anyway.

This morning we reported extensively on Rowling’s live event last night. One highlight: Rowling has said on numerous occassions that she has not read E.L. James’ hugely successful book Fifty Shades of Grey, and during the event said, “The difference is that people have sex in my book, but no one enjoys it.” Rowling and Patchett both went on to say that neither of them had read the popular book, with Patchett adding, “Everyone tells me the writing is terrible.”

The Casual Vacancy is now available worldwide. In its release week the book sold over 500,000 copies in the United States and United Kingdom. Those sales helped propel to the top spot on the New York Times best seller list. It also debuted at number one on USA Today’s best seller list, notably knocking Fifty Shades of Grey from the lead.
