Although the first season of Netflix’s Castlevania TV show was short, season 2 will be a little bit longer.

Update (July 9): The Geekly Grind has posted a mobile recording of the Castlevania season 2 trailer on twitter. The short trailer is a bit lower quality, but it gives us a good idea of what we can expect in Castlevania season 2.

Original story: The Castlevania season 2 release date is October 26, 2018, giving fans the perfect spooky anime to watch right before Halloween.

While the first season of the Castelvania TV show only ran for four episodes, the second season of Castelvania will run double that count.

This announcement was made at the Los Angeles Anime Expo by John Derderian, who is the director of Netflix’s Japan and global anime.

An official Netflix twitter account, See What’s Next, tweeted out the first look of Castlevania season 2.

The first season of the show was released on July 7, 2017, and was met with critical acclaim. While the series was long rumored and subject to many delays, the TV show based off the Castlevania 2D horror sidescrolling series seems to be making some good footing with its longer second season.

There still has yet to be a Castlevania season 2 trailer, so in the meantime, enjoy the beautiful animation of the original trailer for Castlevania season 1.

The original Castlevania video game released for the NES in 1986 by Konami. The TV series, however, is based on the events of the third game in the series, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, which released in 1990.

Stalwart fans of the Castlevania series have waited patiently for the announcement of a Castlevania season 2 release date, with the announcement happening nearly a year after the first season of the TV show released on Netflix.

The Castlevania series is part of Netflix’s effort to bring original anime programming into their lineup. Recently, Netflix has also released an exclusive adaptation of gambling manga Kakegurui, along with the anime drama Violet Evergarden. With premium exclusive anime content, Netflix is likely looking to tap into the userbase of popular anime streaming services such as Crunchyroll.
