We are almost back, Castle fanatics!
It’s been wayyyyy too long since we had a new episode of Castle but have no fear, those days are almost at an end! New episodes start back up this Monday, January 12 at 10 p.m. eastern as per usual.
But before we get to the new episodes, featuring Castle as private investigator following his removal from the 12th, let’s do a refresher on the first half of the season and think about what we’d like to see coming up. Let’s begin!
In the beginning, we had to deal with the missing Castle situation and the fallout. I think that it was a shock for everyone, especially the writers, to find a balance between normal storytelling and finding answers. Who was affected the most? Kate. Why? She got stood up at her wedding day!
I do think that the writers took some liberties with her character progression by having her faith in Castle be soooo rattled. He has proved time and time again that he will always be there for her and has never done anything to fully deserve that level of scrutiny. He has been there for her through thick and thin and even IF he did have a change of heart, Rick would never leave Alexis. My one gripe about the kidnapping was this. Moving on.
After that, Castle seemed to find its groove back in the comedy arena. Who didn’t love seeing Caskett in the wild wild west? Castle met some of his childhood heroes and played with the cutest little girl. Is anyone else feeling like Kate should start thinking about having a baby? Just me? Okay.
Looking forward we have the twist of Castle being a nuisance once again, and how it will effect not just Kate but the whole team. Esposito and Ryan need Castle, whether they realize how much is another thing to look forward to with his new position as a private investigator.
Things I’d like to see? I’d love to see more interaction between Kate and Alexis. I think that is a relationship that the show has never fully dived into and I for one would love to see it more developed. Obviously we’d all love a return to the 3XK story and it seems like we will be getting that with the reappearance of Dr. Kelly Nieman, played by Annie Wersching, as the girlfriend of Jerry Tyson.
And of course, we’d all like some more info on Castle’s disappearance.
