For the third year in a row Castle takes home the People’s Choice Award for Favorite TV Crime Drama. Stana Katic was also a big winner in the Favorite Dramatic Actress category.

This season of Castle has definitely been exciting and filled with fan favorite moments worthy of the award. Castle manages to balance comedy, crime, and romance perfectly to appeal to a wide audience. The slow percolation of romance between Rick and Kate kept fans waiting for years but the pay off was worth the wait. Unlike other shows where the main characters have gotten together, Castle has managed to use the relationship to enhance the show and keep it fresh. This year has been especially great as Rick and Kate keep dropping hints about the ‘big day’ and supporting characters, like Ryan and Esposito, have bigger story lines.

Katic accepted her award last night before introducing Sara Bareilles’ performance. Katic was humble and thanked everyone on the show. She also thanked the fans who are a driving force behind the People’s Choice Award. See her acceptance speech below.

Over the last few years we have seen Stana Katic’s character almost die, leave New York City to become an FBI agent, and most importantly realize her feelings for Rick Castle. The evolution of Kate Beckett has been the focal point of the show. Starting out as a street smart detective haunted by her mother’s murder, Kate has evolved into someone who knows the boundaries of her position and isn’t afraid to step outside them if the situation calls for it. Stana Katic plays Kate Beckett in perfect balance to Nathan Fillion’s Rick Castle. Katic brings a bevy of emotion to the role and definitely deserved the recognition.

Congratulations to Stana and the whole cast of Castle on their People’s Choice Awards win.
