Andrew Marlowe recently gave an interview regarding Castle for the winter/spring 2013 season. It seems that there is a lot in store for our favorite author/detective. Read below for all the details, but be aware there are several spoilers.

First up is Castle’s family. Executive producer Andrew Marlowe is considering an “explosively personal” February sweeps two-parter that would introduce the patriarch in a way that would profoundly impact both his son and granddaughter Alexis’ lives. Can you imagine a papa Castle? What would he be like? According to Marlowe he is pretty sure he would have to be ruggedly handsome and Nathan Fillion’s choice would be Harrison Ford.

Also in February, Senator Bracken (Jack Coleman), who is behind the murder of Beckett’s mother, returns. When it appears that he’s tied to another killing, “Beckett believes this is her opportunity to nail him once and for all,” says Marlowe. What will Beckett do when faced with her mother’s killer again?

Esposito will also get to be in the spotlight during an episode that highlights his past as a delinquent. What kind of shenanigans could Esposito have gotten up to? Marlowe says, “We learn Esposito had a bit of a record himself.” Marlowe is also planning a special mythology episode for Detective Ryan.

As for the romance between Castle and Beckett, they’ll celebrate their first Valentine’s Day and contemplate what gifts to exchange as all this happens while investigating a murder on a Real Housewives-type reality show. Keep an eye out for some of your favorite reality stars during this episode. As for the big question, is “Caskett” getting married, Marlowe didn’t really have an answer, but then again who would expect him to answer that! Let’s face it, we waited five years for Caskett to happen; we aren’t going to be rewarded with a wedding as well.

Are you excited about all the developments for the spring season? Which are you most looking forward to?

Don’t forget to watch the winter finale tonight, Castle 5×09 “Secret Santa,” at 10 p.m. EST.
