Read our Castle season 6, episode 19 recap and discuss what you think about the Gates’ relationship with her sister.

The episode opens with a dead body but quickly moves into a cute Kate and Rick scene. They are discussing wedding venues including the option of a rollercoaster. As always they are interrupted by a call to the crime scene.

At the crime scene they find a Wall Street banker shot in his room. The interesting part is that his shirt was unbuttoned as if someone was looking for something. Ryan manages to get a picture of the woman who called in the murder.

When talking to the victim’s (Peter) cousin she says he didn’t have a girlfriend and she doesn’t know the woman in the photo. She also says that Peter had been stressed because of work.

Kate and Rick visit Mr. Berman, Peter’s boss, who is putting on a Wolf of Wall Street show in the office. He mistakenly thinks Kate is from the SEC which she quickly rectifies. Berman tells Kate that Peter was visited by a gang banger at work and they exchanged a package.

Lainey calls Kate and Rick to the autopsy room to show them some numbers written on Peter’s hand. She also noticed adhesive on his chest like one would have if they are wearing wire. As Kate is talking to Gates about the case the U.S. District Attorney enters. Gates’ tone completely changes as she admits that the DA is her sister.

The sister reunion is less than amicable as both are laying claim to the case. Elizabeth says that Peter was an informant for them and that was why he was killed.

Ryan looks into the meeting between Peter and Berman which looks suspicious. Berman has an alibi and says that the meeting had to deal with sensitive matters that cannot be discussed.

Rick tries to bring up Gates’ sister and is quickly shut down by her. Esposito discovers that the sketch given to them by Berman actually matches Hector Nunez who also has a gun that matches the crime. Peter’s cousin tells Kate that Peter wouldn’t be messed up with Nunez unless he was forced to.

Kate and Rick go to check out Nunez at his club. When Kate tells Nunez about Peter he is stunned and says that Peter was his best friend. Nunez says that the package he gave Peter was the gun. Peter was into something dangerous. He had Nunez take an envelope to a bank. Peter had a secret account and transferred 25 million dollars.

The money is untraceable but Gates heads to see Elizabeth to see if she has any more information. Gates seems to not trust her sister and demands the wire recordings but Elizabeth won’t let her. Gates calls her sister trying to cover up Peter’s indiscretions in order to make her case. Elizabeth reluctantly agrees and tells Gates not to screw up another one of her investigations.

Rick and Kate start reviewing the guest list for the wedding and it seems that the “intimate” event includes over 500 guests. They ask Martha for help only to find out she has a list of her own.

As Kate and Rick look into the money, they discover that Armondo Garcia and Peter Cordero are the same person. Peter sent the money to himself. He was preparing to disappear and wouldn’t have testified against Berman, ruining Elizabeth’s case.

Gates explains to Kate that she and Elizabeth have a history of ruined cases. Gates had to arrest Elizabeth’s informant because he was skimming drugs off of his assignment.

The group takes a look at the footage from the computer café that Peter transferred the money at. The man who transferred the money was Berman. Peter had told Berman about the case the District Attorney was building and got paid instead.

Berman is brought in for questioning and insists he didn’t kill Peter. Berman even says that he knew Peter was wearing a wire and watched him drop it. Kate investigates further and discovers that the Assistant DA had actually listened to the tape. She had also planted drugs on Peter to get him to testify against Berman.

Elizabeth and Gates seem to make amends. Elizabeth understands that Gates was just doing her job and the two head out for drinks.

The closing scene is Kate and Rick trying to decide on their wedding list. They each take a moment to write down who must be at the wedding to make them happy and each write down “you.” The sweet moment speaks to who Rick and Kate are and quickly morphs into creating a more reasonable list.
