Last year we were teased with the idea that Castle’s dad was somehow connected to the CIA. This season we get to meet him during a two part episode set for February sweeps.

According to TV Line Castle’s father will be played by James Brolin. The Emmy-winning actor will appear in Castle‘s big February sweeps two-parter (set to air on Feb. 18 and Feb. 25), which finds Rick and Kate investigating a murder that subsequently exposes a plot to kidnap a wealthy Middle Eastern businessman’s daughter. There is no indication if Rick’s father will play a role in the case or not.

Castle grew up knowing nothing about his father and not really caring. However, last season while working with the CIA it was hinted that the reason Castle was given access was because of his father. Is it possible that papa Castle is part of the CIA or some other high ranking position in government?

When speaking about the episode creator Andrew W. Marlowe previously told TVGuide.com, “I would not characterize the two-parter as being about his dad, hopefully we can find a great and elegant way to embrace Castle’s father’s mythology in a way that’s going to be exciting.”

Brolin, whose previous TV credits include The West Wing,  will also play the long-lost dad of Community‘s Jeff Winger this season. His other recent TV credits include guest spots on Law & Order: SVU and Psych.
