There’s been a lot of noise leaking from the set of Kathryn Bigelow’s controversial Osama Bin Laden thriller (once tentatively titled Kill Bin Laden, now simply called Kathryn Bigelow’s Untitled Bin Laden film), including the addition of Joel Edgerton, Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong and Edgar Ramirez.

We seem to be hearing more and more about this film that made our most anticipated films of 2012 list, and after the casting of Jason Clark (Public Enemies, Swerve) last year to play “a terrorist hunter in service of the U.S. efforts to hunt Bin Laden,” it seems that there is no shortage of actors who want in on the important project.

According to Variety (via SlashFilm), Joel Edgerton (Warrior) and Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt (Moneyball) have joined Clark in the film, which according to Deadline (via RopeOfSilicon) may also feature Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life, The Debt), Mark Strong (The Guard, Green Lantern and Edgar Ramirez (Carlos).

As we mentioned last year, Bigelow was already in pre-production for the film (which was said to climax with the failed assassination of Osama Bin Laden) before the infamous May 1st announcement. Now Bigelow and her Hurt Locker accomplice/writer Mark Boal have retooled the story to include the actual historical account of Bin Laden’s death in the film.

A very interesting sidenote from RopeofSilicon:

The Pentagon is going to be investigating charges made by Rep Peter King that Bigelow and Boal somehow got inside information about the mission from the Obama Administration in preparing the script.

So what do you think? Have you been waiting for this movie since before Bin Laden’s death? Do you think a film about the assassination is appropriate? What do you think about the casting choices, and who else would you like to see cast? We’ve seen rumors that Tom Hardy, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Jennifer Ehle, Nina Arianda and Rooney Mara have been circling the film, will we see them in the final cut?
