Sophia Grace joins the a-list Into the Woods cast, and Meryl Streep will re-team with Robert De Niro in today’s casting round-up.

Sophia Grace

Nicky Minaj enthusiast and close, personal friend to Ellen DeGeneres, Sophia Grace Brownlee has figured out how to successfully turn viral video stardom into an actual career. The 10-year-old has been cast as Red Riding Hood in Disney’s film adaptation of the musical Into the Woods. Brownlee joins stars Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anna Kendrick among others – not bad for a feature film debut.

Brownlee and her cousin Rosie became fan favorites on the Ellen DeGeneres show after a video of them singing Nicky Minaj’s “Super Bass” received millions of views on YouTube. The 8-year-old has appeared on Ellen show nine times over the past year and even had a guest stint on the Nickelodeon comedy, Sam & Cat.

News of Brownlee’s casting gave many fans pause as the character of Red Riding Hood has an innuendo-filled encounter with the Wolf (Depp) with the song “Hello Little Girl.” Little Red Riding Hood is normally played by an older actress. Rob Marshall is directing the film due out December 25, 2014.

Meryl Streep

Speaking of Meryl Streep, the three-time Academy Award winner is re-teaming with Robert De Niro to star in the film adaptation of the bestselling novel, The Good House. Streep will play Hildy Good, a lifelong resident of a small town in Boston with a reputation for being an alcoholic and a descendant of a Salem Witch.

De Niro plays Frank, a fellow resident that Hildy reconnects with after her family sets up an intervention. Michael Cunningham (The Hours) is adapting the novel for the screen. No director has been set for the film as of yet.

Streep and De Niro have worked opposite each other three times (The Deer Hunter, Falling in Love, Marvin’s Room) and De Niro calls Streep his favorite actress to work with.

Sam Rockwell

Sam Rockwell is in talks to star in the upcoming remake of the horror classic, Poltergeist. Fox Studios is handling the remake with director Gil Kenan (Monster House) already in place. David Lindsay-Abaire (Oz the Great and Powerful) is writing the script and Sam Raimi (Spider-Man) is producing.

Poltergeist is due out in 2014.
