You may not be surprised to hear that Disney Pixar’s Cars 2 was the top film at the box office this weekend, but you may be surprised to hear that it beat Cars‘ opening weekend!
Cars 2 pulled in $68 million, which tops Cars‘ $60 million in 2006.
Bad Teacher came in second place with $30 million which exceeded many expectations.
The Hollywood Reporters notes that the Cars 2 performed particularly well in red states thanks to Mater/Larry The Cable Guy.
