The moment the Star Wars Episode 7 news hit the internet, casting rumors had already begun to circulate. None of these rumors were as persistent as that of the return of the main cast, including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher.

Update:It seems as though our favorite Disney princess got a little carried away in the interview that we reported here. Fisher’s representatives have issued a release stating that she was “joking” when she confirmed (twice) that she would indeed be returning as Princess Leia in Star Wars Episode 7.

In the past, Fisher has called her inevitable return to the Star Wars franchise “common knowledge”, but it seems that either her representatives or Disney’s lawyers don’t want to let the crazy cat out of the bag quite yet. Logically, we can look at this one of three ways: Either Fisher has been in talks to appear in Star Wars Episode 7 and just isn’t confirmed yet, or she is already all signed up and Disney just wants to keep the information close to the chest.

Or she’s crazy. Never underestimate the craziness of the bikini-clad Worship known as Leia.

Now that Harrison Ford has come clean about returning as Han Solo, we’ve been standing by waiting for more confirmation notices from everyone else. Mark Hamill has said that Disney is very busy trying to confirm the cast of the original trilogy, including smaller players like Billy Dee Williams.

News of Carrie Fisher’s casting confirmation comes by way of an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated. The interviewer asked her at point-blank range whether or not she would make an appearance in Star Wars Episode 7, to which the actress answered “Yes.”

We at Hypable had theorized shortly after the Star Wars Episode 7 announcement that the new film would follow the children of an older Luke, Han, and Leia. It seems as though Disney is moving forward with the plan to feature a geriatric trio of heroes, but the film will likely focus on the group’s children, one of which (if Disney follows the expanded universe storylines) will succumb to the Dark Side.

Sounds intriguing, right? Either way, Disney has said in the past that if any of the original Star Wars cast members couldn’t make it, that Disney wouldn’t recast. They would simply write the character out, meaning that the role of Luke, Han, and Leia will likely be minimal.

Carrie Fisher confirms this in the interview linked above. When asked what Leia would be like in the film, Fisher responded, “Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.”

That’s not all, as legendary composer John Williams has recently expressed interest in coming back to compose the score for Star Wars Episode 7. More than anything, we’re excited to get some more information on the main players of the new trilogy: Luke, Leia, and Han’s children.

Names like Hailee Steinfeld and Jennifer Lawrence have been loosely thrown around the deepest corners of the internet, but we’ve heard no official news yet.

Who else do you want to see in ‘Star Wars Episode 7’?
