Carrie Fisher has died in Los Angeles after suffering what has been described as “a massive heart attack” while on board a plane from London to LAX.

Update 5 (December 27, 1:00 PM ET): It’s with great sadness we report that Carrie Fisher has died. The news came via her daughter’s publicist:

Carrie died at 8:55 AM PT on Tuesday morning, December 27. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” her family said in a statement.

Update 4 (December 25, 3:00 PM ET): Carrie’s mother Debbie Reynolds has tweeted an update on her daughter’s condition, saying she’s now in stable condition:

Update 3 (December 24, 10:00 AM ET): No updates yet on Carrie’s condition since being moved to the ICU, but we have a couple new comments to share from her Star Wars co-stars.

Harrison Ford told THR, “I’m shocked and saddened to hear the news about my dear friend. Our thoughts are with Carrie, her family and friends.”

And Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) tweeted:

Update 2 (December 23, 9:00 PM ET): Speaking with Variety, Carrie’s brother Todd Fisher denied earlier reports that his sister is in stable condition:

“She’s in the ICU and everybody’s praying for her,” he said over the phone. “There’s nothing new from the doctors. There’s nothing new at all. … There’s no good news or bad news.”

Todd Fisher said media outlets are “writing between the lines” in reporting that she’s now in stable condition.

And in separate comments from ET Canada, Todd said of the now incorrect AP report (seen below in Update 1):

“I don’t know where they got that word from. That is absolutely not even close to the truth. We don’t know. We hope for the best. We certainly do not know her condition, that’s why she is in ICU. I’m sure everyone wants to speculate but now is not the time for that.”

Update 1 (December 23, 7:00 PM ET): Speaking with the Associated Press, Carrie’s brother said that the actress is “out of emergency” and in stable condition.

Original story (December 23): According to TMZ, “sources say Carrie was on a flight from London to LAX when she went into cardiac arrest. People on board were administering CPR. We’re told the emergency occurred 15 minutes before the plane landed in L.A. A flight attendant asked if there were any medical personnel on board and an EMT who was sitting in the back of the plane came up to first class and administered life-saving measures.”

Fisher’s Twitter account was last updated two days ago. Fisher and her famous dog, Gary, had been in Europe recently as Fisher relayed on her Twitter account.

Fisher is set to return for Stars Wars: Episode 8 which completed filming in July and is set to be released a year from now on December 15, 2017. More recently she’s been on a book tour for her new memoir, The Princess Diarist.

Tweets from those who were on the same flight as Carrie say that she stopped breathing for 10 minutes:

Star Wars co-stars Mark Hamill and Peter Mayhew, who play Luke and Chewbacca respectively, have tweeted:
