Netflix’s AKA Jessica Jones has added The Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss to the cast.

Netflix has picked up four Marvel comedy book series, committing to a 13-episode season for each show.

Jessica Jones is set to premiere in 2015 following Daredevil, and stars Krysten Ritter as the title character.

In the series, Jessica Jones bounces back from a failed superhero career, and branches out as a detective who solves supernatural cases in New York.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that an iconic genre actress has joined the cast: Carrie-Anne Moss will play “a no-nonsense woman,” who looks to aid the reluctant Jessica with her crime-fighting business.

The character hasn’t yet been named, but looking at the similarities between the actresses, do you think Moss might be playing Jessica’s mother?

Moss (47) is no stranger to the genre, playing Trinity in The Matrix trilogy and appearing on shows like Chuck and Crossing Lines.

AKA Jessica Jones also stars David Tennant as the Purple Man, Rachael Taylor as Patricia Walker, and Mike Colter as Luke Cage. Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg will serve as showrunner on the new series.

Note that while both Daredevil and Jessica Jones are set to come out this year, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos has cautioned that we might not see the latter till 2016.

Sarandos tells io9 that it’s, “Too hard to say now,” adding, “Jessica Jones hasn’t started production yet, so a lot happens from the first day on the set to the last day of production. We want to give them enough room and enough time to make a great show, so I don’t want to set up a rigid timetable.”

But hey, we’d rather they hold off a few more months if it means a better show, right?
