The CW’s Roswell, New Mexico will have to carry on without co-showrunner Carina Adly MacKenzie for season 3.

On Friday, Roswell, New Mexico co-showrunner Carina Adly MacKenzie took to Twitter to reveal that she has decided to part ways with the hit CW revival.

In her lengthy statement, MacKenzie said she made the difficult decision to resign “due to fundamental differences.”

Though MacKenzie will not be on hand to see the third season of the sci-fi series through, she ensured fans that she’s “departing and entrusting RNM to capable hands.

“I’m so proud of what we built over the last two years, and I believe in the heart and soul of the show: asking tough questions, striving to make the world better, amplifying marginalized voices, and fighting the good fight,” wrote MacKenzie.

In addition, MacKenzie took the opportunity to clear up a few rumors that have been swirling around online with regards to why she’s choosing to walk away from the series.

“Because there’s a lot of nonsense getting spread around, let me make it clear this decision has nothing to do with any of the cast, crew or writers,” continued the showrunner. “I love them in an epic forever handprints-on-my-soul kind of way.”

Though MacKenzie will no longer be involved with Roswell, New Mexico going forward, toward the end of her statement, she did reveal that she had a hand in shaping the season 3 opener prior to resigning.

“I had talks with the actors about the season character journeys. I put my finishing touches on the season premiere this week. But this is a business, and there were fundamental disagreements about a couple of things that were and are very important to me,” wrote MacKenzie.
