Could Cardi B be heading to the Super Bowl? It sounds like it could be a possibility!

Last week we learned that Maroon 5 would be the next big act to hit the stage at half time during the 2019 Super Bowl.

The news, which was first reported by Variety, raised a few eyebrows to say the least. Especially from music fans far and wide hoping that Super Bowl LII, set to be held in Atlanta, would pay tribute to the ATL’s rich music scene which has given birth to the likes of Outkast, TLC, Migos, and many more.

Now, it’s looking like fans hoping next years half time show will find a way to pay tribute to Atlanta’s deep-seeded history of hip-hop might just have their prayers answered.

According to TMZ, Cardi B may just be heading to the Super Bowl alongside Maroon 5.

The word is that Cardi could be heading to Atlanta on football’s biggest night to perform her joint hit single with Maroon 5, “Girls Like You.”

The catch, however, is that it’s being rumored that the breakout rap star’s team is currently negotiating whether or not she’d get a solo set at the Super Bowl as part of the deal.

Though Cardi isn’t from the ATL herself, there’s no denying the city’s influence has seeped into her music. Her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, plays around with a number of genres including Trap (a sub-genre of rap coined in Atlanta).

Given the “Bodak Yellow” rapper’s quick rise to fame and the way she’s been dominating the charts, it would make sense to have a high profile act like her split the bill with Maroon 5 as Coldplay did with Beyonce a few years back.

That being said, it’s also important to remember that when it comes to half time performers, the powers that be tend to pick artists that are a little less controversial. With that in mind, granting Cardi her own set would be a bold, out of the ordinary move for them.

Even so, enlisting Cardi would definitely shake things up and make for a much more interesting half time extravaganza, so we’re definitely hoping the rumors prove to be true!
