It looks like Captain Marvel 2 may have just found its director in none the than Nia DaCosta!

According to Deadline, Marvel and Disney have tapped director Nia DaCosta to helm the highly anticipated sequel to Captain Marvel.

DaCosta’s previous credits include writing and directing the 2018 indie crime drama, Little Woods starring MCU vet Tessa Thompson and Lily James.

Coming up next, movie goers will be able to feast their eyes or DaCosta’s directorial chops in Candyman, which is still slated to premiere in September 2020.

The highly anticipated horror thriller serves as a sequel to the 1992 horror film of the same name, and features a screenplay written by Academy Award winner Jordan Peele (Get Out) and Win Rosenfeld.

Bowden and Fleck also collaborated on the Captain Marvel screenplay, though they won’t be back to pen the sequel either.

Instead, Marvel and Disney have tapped Megan McDonnell to write the script for Carol Danvers’ second big screen stint. In addition, McDonnell is also serving as a writer on WandaVision, one of a number of MCU limited series coming down the pipeline at Disney+
