The Captain America: Civil War Super Bowl trailer offered us some new footage of the film, and it did not disappoint.

When we first learned Civil War was going to play out in a Captain America movie, we were a little worried it was too big of a story for anything other than an Avengers film, and Captain America fans didn’t want other characters to take time away from Steve and Bucky’s story. But In the Russo Brothers We Trust, and everything so far is beyond any expectations we could’ve had.

The new trailer did provide us with footage we had already seen, but it also gave us some great, never-before-seen moments from both sides of the war. Which means there was a lot of screaming on Twitter last night and everyone promptly jumped on Tumblr to share their GIFs.

The Winter Soldier

The first image that has collectively freaked people out is seeing Bucky back in the machine used in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This was used to subdue Bucky during his time as an assassin, and it’s not at all pleasant to see him back in it. It’s possible this is a flashback sequence.

Bucky attacking Tony

This GIF set is a two-for-one special. First, you’ve got a sweet new gadget from Tony. His watch-gauntlet is a great way to keep part of his suit on hand (badum tchhhh) if he gets into a sticky situation. Secondly, Bucky comes charging up the stairs and pulls the trigger in Tony’s face. Luckily, his gauntlet was there to save him, but the look of shock that crosses his face shows just how surprised he is that Bucky actually did that. A lot of fans are speculating that Tony was saving someone behind him and Bucky wasn’t actually trying to kill a member of the Avengers.

Steve and Bucky, united

Next we have Bucky and Steve preparing for Iron Man’s arrival. They’re falling back on their military training, and Bucky is the offense to Steve’s defense. Tony pushes the doors open and it’s clear the situation is already tense. The lines, “Captain, you seem a little defensive,” and, “Well, it’s been a long day,” from the other trailer also take place in this scene.

Choose your side

We’ve known the teams for a while now, but there’s something immensely satisfying about seeing Team Cap and Team Iron Man standing toe-to-toe before the action really kicks off. Everyone’s also excited to see newcomer Black Panther next to Iron Man, despite us not really knowing what his true motives are for being on Tony’s side.

Plus, Twitter rolled out adorable Civil War emojis last night, and everyone was having fun building their own teams in order to win a walk-on role for Avengers: Infinity War.
