After Captain America: Civil War, many fans cried foul at Steve and Sharon, and now Hayley Atwell is joining in.

Amongst some of the complaints directed at Captain America: Civil War, fans felt that the relationship between Steve Rogers and Sharon Carter was forced. On top of that, it felt like quite the slap in the face to Peggy Carter who was supposed to be Steve’s true love. To make matters even worse, they got together quite quickly after Peggy’s death.

Over the weekend, Hayley Atwelll spoke at the Dallas Comic Con Fan Expo and discussed the kiss shared between Steve and Sharon. Atwell said Peggy would “be turning over in her grave.” Maybe a bit jokingly she added, “She’d be like ‘no.’ And she’d inject herself with the blue serum and become a super villain. She’d break out of her coffin and ground [Sharon]. She’d ground her. Then she’d kick Steve’s ass as well.”

Later in the panel Atwell explained her position more seriously, saying, “I just feel that, you know — I wouldn’t want to date my great aunt’s guy. It just feels like it crosses an incestuous boundary. And Peggy just died. That’s even more disrespectful, right?”

You can watch a video of the panel with Atwell below:

Hopefully this isn’t Atwell’s goodbye tour to Agent Carter and we’ll get to see the show brought back on another platform. Many fans are rooting for Netflix to pick it up since it’s already home to several other Marvel series. As a final resort, fans of the actress can always catch her starring on the new ABC series Conviction.

Do you agree with Hayley Atwell’s stance on Sharon and Steve in ‘Captain America: Civil War’?
