Fans were promised something “big” would happen on Jimmy Kimmel tonight with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans appearing on the show, and they weren’t disappointed: The first Captain America: Civil War trailer has been released!

We only expected to see a short trailer teaser tonight, but Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. ended up revealing a whopping 2 1/2-minute preview for Captain America: Civil War. Watch the film’s first trailer below:

The Captain America: Civil War trailer shows Cap and Iron Man battling in what should be the best Marvel film since The Avengers back in 2012.

The trailer gives us a great idea of what the film will be tackling, and while we didn’t see many people on Iron Man’s team, we know he’ll have some Avengers on his side battling with him as well. Everyone loved Bucky in The Winter Soldier, so we imagine the fact that he and Cap are teaming up will be a major draw for the film.

Watching Cap and Bucky take down Iron Man is pretty amazing, as we just haven’t seen anything like this before, and we can’t imagine how amazing the film will be when we see two separate Avengers teams battling each other with their specific abilities.

The first Civil War posters were also released today. Three of them!

Prior to tonight we’ve only seen concept art from Captain America: Civil War, so it was a bit surprising to find out that something was happening with Civil War tonight at seemingly the last minute.

While fans have shown some concern about there being too many characters in Civil War (played by Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Frank Grillo, and Tom Holland, just to name a few), we’ve heard great things about the script, and the Russo brothers directed The Winter Soldier, which was easily the best Marvel film since The Avengers.

Captain America: Civil War will hit U.S. theaters May 6, 2016.

Civil War’s story “picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity,” according to a synopsis from Marvel. “After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.”
