The popular mobile game Candy Crush Saga is being turned into a game show by Lionsgate and CBS.

“What’s more fun than playing Candy Crush? Watching others play Candy Crush.” – Whatever bright-eyed executive pitched this new game show to CBS, probably.

Via Deadline, your most annoying Facebook friend’s favorite game is being turned into a game show targeted at “its massive, passionate fan base.”

Candy Crush, developed by King, is at the time of writing the most played Facebook game worldwide, with 10.4 million daily players.

The simple and colorful puzzle game consists of moving candy-shaped blocks around a square surface; when you get three in a row, they satisfyingly pop, and you keep going until you reach your target. Matching four or five candies will give you additional bonuses.

Candy Crush launched in 2012, and Lionsgate has been working on a live-action reality series for about two years. Now, the series is coming to CBS. It features teams of two people, who will be taken through both mental and physical challenges, competing on “enormous, interactive game boards featuring next generation technology.” The goal is to conquer the “Candy Crush,” which secures the victory.

CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller says in a statement:

“We are huge fans of Candy Crush and, like so many others, we know the ‘rush’ of advancing to the next level of the game. We’re excited to work with Lionsgate and King to adapt one of the world’s most popular and entertaining game franchises for television and make it available to its massive, passionate fan base who can watch and play along at home.”
