It has been revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will not return to the Cold War aesthetic of the original and will instead take players into a conflict set in the near future.

This information comes after the game’s official site went live before the scheduled reveal later today during the NBA Playoffs.

According to the site, Black Ops 2 will “push the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise” and “propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.”

The first trailer is teased on the site was not working at the time of this writing but did show a helicopter flying over a war torn city. We will update the story when the trailer is finally released.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is being developed by Treyarch and is set for release November 13.
