Dan Fogler, who plays Jacob in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, has offered a few interesting tidbits about how his character will be meeting and getting cozy with Newt.

Slight spoiler warning!

Snitch Seeker has shared new comments from Fogler who was speaking to the media at CinemaCon last week in Las Vegas. It sounds like Newt and Jacob’s suitcases will be getting mixed up, which will be a big deal for the latter. Remember, he’s a Muggle/No-Maj who isn’t supposed to know that magic or wizards exist.

“[J.K. Rowling] writes this story about Newt coming to New York to buy a gift, and he has this case, which is essentially a zoo full of these creatures that he’s collected over the years,” Fogler said.

“[Newt] and I literally bump into each other, our cases get switched up. I open my case, thinking that inside are gonna be pastries, and it’s actually an entire zoo of magical creatures that comes stampeding out. One of them bites me.

“Newt, who’s more of a misanthropic character and closer to the animals than he is to humans, he feels responsible for me. He doesn’t want me to die because of this bite, so he takes me along and tries to heal me as we collect all these creatures in the city. Over the course of that, he and I become friends. It’s like Sherlock and Watson, the origin story.”

It sounds like Newt doesn’t keep that “Muggle Worthy” switch that we saw in the trailer in the “on” position at all times!

Speaking of the most recent trailer, the new preview told us that Newt Scamander is getting expelled from Hogwarts for “endangering human life with a beast.” This doesn’t exactly align with canon, which has many people (including The MuggleCasters) wondering if this’ll be a redemption story, or if J.K. Rowling will be slightly adjusting the canon she wrote way back in 2001.

Fantastic Beasts opens in theaters this November.
