How well do you remember Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 1? Take our quiz and find out if you’d qualify as a Rewatchable superfan!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer started airing nearly 20 years ago, but if you’ve been following along with our Rewatchable podcast, you might have just finished watching season 1 for the very first time. Alternatively, this could be your 17th Buffy marathon, in which case you’ll ace the written.

In season 1, we’re introduced to Buffy Summers as she tries to leave behind her past as the Vampire Slayer. She’s the Chosen One, the one girl in all the world with the strength and skill to fight the vampires. Unfortunately, all her old problems are waiting for her in her new town, and she carries on with her secret supernatural life under the guidance of her Watcher Giles and accidentally bringing her new friends Willow and Xander into the fold.

Buffy season 1 seemed to start out as a light-hearted monster-of-the-week high school dramedy. But over the course of its twelve episodes, as the characters themselves realized the gravity of their situation, the overall tone progressed into something darker, deeper and more human, with the season finale “Prophecy Girl” cementing itself a spot in many a top ten TV episodes list over the past two decades.

There’s always been some debate about high-school era Buffy the Vampire Slayer vs the later seasons, but on Rewatchable, it’s been great to get back to the show’s roots and remember what it was actually like. Earlier this week, we wrote about the hidden gems of Buffy season 1 (Angel is hilarious! Cordelia isn’t an idiot! “Puppet Show” is better than we remembered!) and now, in true high school fashion, it’s time for a pop quiz! Newbies and superfans alike: how well do you remember Buffy season 1?
