Cue the nostalgia! You can now binge Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly on Facebook Watch.
Facebook has signed a non-exclusive (the shows will continue streaming on Hulu) deal with 20th Century Fox to stream the three iconic series in an effort to provide buzz-worthy content for the platform’s viewers.
Fidji Simo, Facebook’s VP Video, explained to Deadline that Facebook Watch is trying to compile a collection of series that “trigger conversations.” They’re hoping that Buffy, Angel and Firefly will be content that viewers want to “discuss and create a community around.” Since there are already huge communities surrounding these shows, it seems like a safe bet!
“Nostalgic content came up as something that’s really interesting to have on the platform,” Simo said. “It’s really a way to test this hypothesis.”
Sarah Michelle Gellar, the star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, announced the “exciting news” on her Facebook page before the series went live. Watch the video below, where Gellar exclaims that “it’s time to slay all day!”
