BTS has fans all over the world, but that’s not stopping people from brushing them off. Before you make that mistake, hear out why they could become your new favorite too!

There’s no denying that BTS have become worldwide icons, and have proven their popularity is growing stateside by repeatedly smashing records with their albums, singles, and music videos.

Even with all of this success, there are still doubters that are quick to dismiss them for being Korean artists. Honestly, those that wave the band away without giving them a chance are really missing out. If just given a chance, BTS can easily turn someone into a fan – not only with their music but also with their personalities.

First things first, let’s talk about how talented these guys are. Between their singers, dancers, and rappers, BTS is always blowing fans away. Their songs alternate between fun and catchy, inspiring and beautiful, as well as badass and edgy. From rap, pop, to slower ballads they really do have music for all kinds of fans.

Each member has their strong suit and they know just how and when to showcase them. RM, Suga, and J-Hope make up the rap line. Jungkook, V, Jimin, and Jin are on the vocal line, while Jungkook, Jimin, V, and J-Hope are also on the dance line.

At the same time, the other members are always working tirelessly to improve on the skills that they aren’t naturally good at.

For example, when RM and Suga joined Big Hit Entertainment for BTS neither had prior dance experience as they had been focusing their talents in the underground rap scene. But since then, they have put in the work to make sure that they can keep up with the rest of the guys and it really shows.

Likewise, Jin was scouted for his looks and was in school for acting but has worked tirelessly over the years to improve on his vocals. The group has even told a story about how they once overheard Jin having a dream about rehearsal and singing in his sleep.

While several of the other members have discussed trying to continually improve on their vocals to keep producing even better music for their fans. Not that anyone is complaining, it’s just the drive these performers have to do their best.

Off stage, their talent continues as the band writes most of their own music. RM, Suga, and J-Hope are all the main producers for the band. While other members have also helped with lyrics and naming songs. They do, of course, get help from outside producers as well. But they are known for being very involved in the process which has helped mold their identity as a band.

If you watch a performance of these guys, it’s simply mesmerizing. Whether it be live or a music video, you’ll instantly want to watch them again and again. While their music videos are amazing, there’s also something special about watching their live performances.

It’s quite a sight to see them keep up with complicated choreography while singing and rapping. There’s no lip syncing here folks! And their personal friendships have seemed to strengthen their performances as a group. You can tell that they enjoy working together and have a great time on stage.

This same energy can be found in their antics while they’re busy at practices, appearances, or just hanging out together when they’re not working. When you’re not watching them perform, you’ll want to watch the hours and hours of videos of the band together off stage.

They’re very active on social media and constantly putting out behind the scenes videos of them together having fun. Even while they’re on this busy tour they’ve kept up posting live streams to their V Live to interact with their ARMY. It’s hard not smile and cheered up when you’re watching the close friendship between all the members.

It’s their bond that really makes the group so lovable, and it’s great to see a group of young men unaffected by toxic masculinity. They’re not afraid to hug, comfort, and show friendly affection. And while they are quick to tease one another, they’re not afraid to complement each other either. This type of comfort with their friendships actually makes them great role models.

This open fondness is also passed along to their fans. I’m not sure that I’ve seen another group so open about their love for the people that support their music. The members don’t shy away from telling the ARMY how much they love and appreciate everything they’ve done for them. The group stays humble and knows that they wouldn’t be where they are today without all of their fans.

There’s actually a lot to respect about BTS when you stop to think about it. From their work with UNICEF that I’ve discussed in previous articles, to discussions on mental health, support of the LGBT community, and charitable donations. Not only are these men talented musicians, but at their core they’re just great people. It just makes you feel even better as a fan to know that the group you’re supporting also have good hearts.

With seven members, it may be daunting for new fans to dive into learning about the group. But I actually think that’s also one of the things that makes BTS strong. It makes it easy for fans to find a member or two that they really connect with for their unique personality.

I’m not going to deep dive into each member right now, but I will say that it’s worth taking the time to get to know RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jungkook, V, Jimin, and Jin. Not only is it fun and interesting to get to know them past their music, but it will make you appreciate their talent even more.

If after all of this you’re worried about being able to understand the groups Korean lyrics, let me assure you that that’s not a big issue. For one thing, BTS mixes in English in their lyrics to help out fans who don’t speak Korean. There are also plenty of fans that interpret videos and lyrics so that others can enjoy them as well. But full disclosure I’ve watched videos of them that didn’t have English subtitles and enjoyed them just fine.

I can’t promise that everyone will love this group. People are allowed to have their own different tastes in music, but I do think many people would be surprised to find how much they enjoy BTS if they just gave them a fair shot.
