On BTS Bon Voyage season 3, episode 8, “A very special dinner,” the members enjoyed their last night in Malta before wrapping up their trip together!

BTS ‘Bon Voyage’ season 3, episode 8 recap:

Night time has settled in Malta and the boys are hard at work writing their letters. Even though they’ve done this before, they still have a little trouble coming up with what they want to say. After they all finish writing, they each reveal the presents that they bought themselves at the market, and Jimin also reveals the snow globes that he bought for each of the members.

The staff also hands over an invitation to the members for their special dinner and are instructed to dress their best. They actually just mainly dress as they normally would, and surprisingly Jin doesn’t end up wearing the outfit that he’s been talking about for days. They also joke that if Suga was there he would have dressed in all black with a black bucket hat.

When they arrive at the place, the members are all confused and think that it’s a trick when they see a construction site. Then they realize they really are having a special dinner, one that’s going to take place in the sky. Jungkook seems to be the only member excited about it, while the others accuse the staff of tricking them. But it looks like the boys are hungry enough to try it anyways.

Despite the cool views, many of the members are still freaked out and can’t help but keeping looking down. It’s a good thing that they have drinks and food to distract them. Even their nerves can’t stop these boys from chowing down. They also debate whether Suga would be scared of the dinner in the air or not.

After finishing their meals, it’s time for the members to read their letters. They also get a a surprise video letter from Suga which makes their night. He admits to being bored without the members and wants to see them soon, but he has to wait for them to come home because he can’t go back to Malta. He also promises that they’ll talk soon and tells them not to talk behind his back.

Next Jin reads his letter and hopes that his future self is as happy as he is now in 2018, he also promises to keep working hard even as his body ages and it gets harder. J-Hope’s letter looks back on his past fondly and hopes that he can keep spreading the positivity to fans. Jungkook’s letter wonders what his future self will be like and hopes that he’ll be happy no matter what happens.

RM’s letter is all about self-love and the obstacles he’s overcome. Jimin’s letter is also about the hope that he can stay happy and healthy even when it’s hard to do so. V’s letter touches on staying happy as well, but also about staying grateful for their fans and working hard for them.

There’s another video letter from Suga as well, to himself this time. He looks back on all their accomplishments and the burden it has on his shoulders which make him more anxious. He tells himself to take it easy, be proud of himself, and be happy.

To close out their dinner, V does some personal busking for the members and sings “Lay Me Down” which he prepared. And the members are happy to be back on the ground now that their dinner is over. They also give a round of applause and thanks to RM for being their leader.

But the night isn’t over for the boys yet, as Jungkook, Jin, and V go off to an amusement park to enjoy some rides on their last night! Even after their excitement from dinner in the sky they don’t back down from the scary rides and even make the staff go with them.

The members also do interviews about their trip in Malta and they can’t help but complain about the heat, even though it was somewhere they wanted to visit. They talk about all the fun things they got to do as well like camping, and fishing.

Of course, a big topic is also about how they felt being separated from V in the beginning and Suga at the end. V remembers the emotional feeling of seeing his members for the first time after being away from them. They all wish that they could have spent more time together on the trip.

They also talk about their day trips in teams and what they enjoyed about being with the different members. As well as what it was like having to drive on this trip, which was a fun but tiring experience for Jungkook and J-Hope. Figuring out the navigation for the cars was also different for the other members. And singing in the car created new memories for them too.

Overall, they felt the trip was fun and relaxing. It’s a chance for them to travel as a family and they love it. They’re already looking forward to Bon Voyage season 4 and list some of the things they might do next time. To end their interview, they also take the time to send messages to their ARMY!

Honestly if this whole episode doesn’t make you teary eyed, I don’t know what will. They’ve made great memories, and given fans so much great content to watch during Bon Voyage season 3 but it’s also heartbreaking to see how upset the boys are at being separated. On the one hand, it shows how strong their bond is but on the other hand it’s tough to see them dealing with that separation anxiety. Here’s to hoping that their next trip together won’t coincide with any events that means a member will have to leave.
