Don’t get too excited though, Halle Berry hasn’t been confirmed for the sequel to X-Men: First Class. However, Bryan Singer, who worked with Berry on the first two X-Men movies, has his fingers crossed for a return.

E! News is reporting that Bryan Singer, director of X-Men: Days of Future Past, is hopeful that Halle Berry will return to the X-Men franchise in this next installment:

“It depends on how it works out. I loved working with Halle, so all I can say is we’ll see what happens.”

Singer went on to speak about the film in general, saying:

“I’m excited about all the actors. It’s an incredible cast. It’s a great story and it involves a lot of stuff that hasn’t been in X-Men films before. New [kinds] of technology, science fiction aspects.”

There’s also no word on whether Rebecca Romijn will reprise the character of Mystique in this sequel. Romijn appeared in X-Men: First Class, briefly, as a younger version of Mystique (played by Jennifer Lawrence). Originators Famke Jensen (Jean Grey, Dark Phoenix) and James Marsden (Cyclops) are also unconfirmed.

X-Men: Days of Future Past includes many of the characters from 2011’s First Class, as well as nearly all of the original cast members from the first three movies, including Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore. It will also feature X-Men newcomer Peter Dinklage.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is set to release in theaters July 2014.
