Allegations against Bryan Singer have finally caught up with him, as his Red Sonja film is officially put on the backburner.

After several disturbing sexual abuse allegations surfaced against Bryan Singer, many wondered how long it would take for Hollywood to consider working with him in another film. As it turns out, it didn’t take long for Singer to be tied to another major project: a Red Sonja movie.

However, as Deadline reports, after a huge backlash when his involvement was announced, it seems that the Red Sonja movie is on hold. A source from Millennium Films told Deadline that the movie wasn’t on the schedule nor was it being put up for sale at the European Film Market in Berlin.

Millennium hasn’t yet officially removed Singer from the movie, but by putting the breaks on the movie they at least seem to be acknowledging the allegations against Singer. Hopefully, the company will begin the search for a new director without a history of sexual violence.

Red Sonja is a comic book character who is known for wielding her sword to take down evil. She also has a pretty dark backstory which just happens to include a sexual assault. So it makes sense that Millennium’s decision to appoint an individual as director who has been accused of sexually assaulting several individuals — most recently with allegations surfacing that Singer assaulted minors–truly perplexing.

Millennium Films’ CEO Avi Lerner spoke about the allegations against Singer, saying, “I think victims should be heard and this allegation should be taken very, very seriously. I just don’t agree to judge by Twitter. I want [the accused] to be judged by the court.”

Hopefully, Millennium’s decision to put the Red Sonja movie on hold means they are finally taking the allegations against Singer seriously. We can only hope they officially remove him from the film soon and find someone else to bring this awesome character to life on the big screen.
