A new trailer for Godzilla has just been released and it features a very emotional Bryan Cranston.
This trailer was released on the official Godzilla YouTube account. It’s technically billed as an “extended look,” but at 2:30 it’s no longer than a normal trailer. It also doesn’t give any extended look at a particular element of the film. If it looks like a trailer and sounds like a trailer, it’s probably a trailer.

In this trailer, we’re given a little bit of a tease at just how emotional of a storyline Bryan Cranston’s character will receive. In previous trailers Cranston has delivered powerful dialogue. “You’re hiding something out there,” his character named Joe Brody said. “And it is going to send us back to the stone age.”
We’ve wondered for a little while what has made his character so passionate, and this trailer gives us a good idea. It appears that his wife was killed in some testing (or something else, it’s not clear), something that would be a good reason to be upset.
Through all of Godzilla‘s promotion we’ve gotten little bits and pieces of what the monster will look like, but we’ve never seen the whole thing. Just yesterday we got the best look we’ve seen yet, and that was rivaled even more in this trailer. We still haven’t seen the whole thing, though, and that’s good. At about 1:30 we see get a glimpse how massive it is, but hopefully they’ll continue to not show the whole thing until it’s in theaters. That kind of big reveal seems to be what they’re leading toward. Hopefully they don’t get cold feet.
Alongside Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson will appear with Elizabeth Olsen. Where Cranston has the emotional storyline, this trailer solidifies the guess that Taylor-Johnson will be the hero. He and Olsen are husband and wife in the film, and that’s particularly interesting given their next on screen relationship will be as brother and sister duo Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: The Age of Ultron. Their chemistry in the film will be something to pay attention to.
Godzilla will also star Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, Ken Watanabe, and David Strathairn.
