Bruce Springsteen appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Tuesday to promote his new album High Hopes, and poked fun at New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s bridge scandal.

Fallon and Springsteen – the latter a New Jersey resident – were both dressed as the rock legend in the ’80s during his Born in the USA tour.

The duo revamped the lyrics to “Born To Run” so that the song parodies the recent revelation that members of Christie’s cabinet purposely shut down the George Washington Bridge as some sort of political retribution.

“We’re stuck in Governor Chris Christie’s Fort Lee traffic jam,” sang Fallon.

“Governor let me in, I want to be your friend, there’ll be no partisan divisions. Let me wrap my legs ’round your mighty rims, and relieve your stressful condition,” Springsteen sang.

“Man, I gotta take a leak, but I can’t. I’m stuck in Governor Chris Christie’s Fort Lee traffic jam.”

Christie and Springsteen have been at odds with one another in recent years (the two don’t agree politically), though they seemingly mended things in late 2012, after the Governor handled the Hurricane Sandy recovery to The Boss’ liking. But this month’s bridge scandal may have – to quote a Springsteen song – set that relationship “on fire.”

This is the third time Springsteen – also known as “Perfect Human” to this writer – has appeared on Fallon and created a spoof in which he performs with the late night talk show host.

High Hopes was released Tuesday, January 14 and is Springsteen’s 18th studio album.

Fallon is wrapping up his run as Late Night host and will take over The Tonight Show in February.
