Bruce Dern is the latest high profile actor to join the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bruce Dern has officially signed to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, and a slew of other Hollywood A-listers set to appear in director Quentin Tarantino’s next film.

Dern will be stepping into a role originally held by the late Burt Reynolds who passed away on September 6.

Though Tarantino’s film, which takes place in the summer of 1969, has been in production for quite some time, Reynolds passed away before he’d even begun filming for his role.

Dern will be portraying George Spahn in the film, a man who in real life was the owner of the ranch were notorious serial killer Charles Manson and his followers (more commonly referred to as the “Manson Family”) lived in the late 1960s.

Speaking of Manson, we learned just this last month that Justified actor Damon Herriman will be playing the infamous cult leader who orchestrated his group of followers to commit a series of murders in the summer of 1969 — including that actress Sharon Tate, director Roman Polanski, and three other friends visiting the celebrity couple at the time of the attack.

Other previously announced cast members who’ve signed on for the project include Rumor Willis, Joanna Pettet, Dreama Walker, Costa Ronan, and Margot Robbie who will be portraying Sharon Tate in the film.’

Slated to come out next summer, the film is said to focus on former television star Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) as they try to navigate an industry they now find unrecognizable.

Written and directed by Tarantino, and produced by Tarantino, David Heyman, and Shannon McIntosh, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood hits theaters on July 26, 2019.
