‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ season 2, episode 11 recap

Deputy Chief Wuntch has to drape medals around Captain Holt, Rosa, and Peralta’s necks for their success with the drug task force, and Captain Holt has his comeback line all prepared. Just when you think he’s gonna go the classy route, he shouts, “Wuntch-time is over!”

Holt and Terry have set up an eight day stakeout and are looking for pairs of detectives to take shifts. Peralta and Boyle volunteer to do the full eight days. This has disaster written all over it. Boyle wrote a theme song in seconds: (to the tune of “Take me Home Tonight”) “Stake me out tonight, I don’t want to let you go till we catch the guy.”

Terry is drawing a children’s book for his daughters, and he has used the staff at the precinct as inspiration for the characters. Gina and Rosa approve, kinda.

Day 1

Peralta and Boyle have quite the plan, but something tells us it’s going to hell in a hand basket VERY soon.

Holt introduces his nephew, Marcus, to everyone at the precinct, and as Marcus leaves, Rosa says “Bye,” which is basically her version of flirting.

Day 2

The issues begin as Peralta asks Boyle to chew quieter and with his mouth closed, and while they solved the issue pretty easily, it definitely is just the opening salvo.

Day 3

Peralta and Boyle both make a “No-No list” of behaviors that they cannot do while they are on the stakeout. Boyle’s list largely involves anything involving Diehard, while Peralta’s is a list of Boyle’s most annoying behaviors.

Day 4 and 5

Even though they thought they had solved all the potential problems, things start to get out of hand as Peralta wants to add singing to his “No-No list.” They then begin to lose it and pretty soon, they’ve filled an entire wall full of behaviors that are no-no’s.

Day 6

They both outlaw talking, and it suddenly becomes VERY quiet. That lasts until Captain Holt calls, and then they act like everything is fine. It’s back to silence as soon as they hang up.

Amy and Gina read Terry’s book, and they disapprove of how he is representing them in the story. He stops the elevator and berates them, making sure they know that it’s just a story, and that he truly loves them. Awwww.

Day 7

Boyle and Peralta finally lose their cool and get into a full-fledged fight, which ends with Boyle throwing the mini basketball out the window and blowing their cover. Stakeout=over.

Since the drop site was abandoned when they blew their cover, Holt puts them on door duty to find the perp. Peralta begs Holt to give him a new partner, but Holt doesn’t buckle.

Captain Holt returns Rosa’s bra (that she left in Marcus’ room that morning) to her in a brown paper bag the next day, and while they both decide it’s fine if she dates his nephew, neither wants to talk about it ever again.

Peralta and Boyle stumble across Biscoe while going door to door, and when he tries to escape out the window, they pursue on foot, ultimately taking him into custody in the alley. They make up, declare themselves to be brothers, and have a moment. It’s touching.
