Britney Spears has announced she is on an indefinite hiatus, which will reportedly delay the release of her upcoming album.

It wasn’t that long ago that Britney Spears announced Domination, her latest Las Vegas residency at the Park Theatre at Park MGM. However, after her father went through a serious health scare where his colon ruptured, Spears put the plans for her show on hold to care for her father. And now Spears’ hiatus is reportedly going to delay the release of her latest album.

As Variety reports, the album delay comes on the heels of her announced hiatus. However, while we will have to wait for Spears to release more music, it does seem that a new album will be coming our way once Spears’ father recovers.

According to Variety, Justin Tranter is serving as executive producer on Spears’ new album. He has previously worked with artists like Imagine Dragons and Selena Gomez, and expressed a great deal of excitement over working with Britney Spears. However, he wasn’t willing to comment on whether or not the album would be released in 2019, or the current status of the album.

It’s definitely unfortunate news for Britney Spears fans to have to wait so long for new music and for her to return to wowing audiences on the Las Vegas stage. However, we’re glad that she is able to take the time she needs to care for her family. Jamie Spears has been managing his daughter’s finances and estate for several years now but is thankfully expected to make a full recovery.
